Where am I?

Snuggled away in the peaceful Cornish countryside close to the village of Goonhavern, Shilbury Retreat Cottage lies just three miles from the seaside resort of Perranporth on the North Cornish Coast. This lovely little hideaway offers a tranquil escape, where you can choose to unwind in the secluded garden or head out and explore Cornwall.

The nearby village of Goonhavern provides your local pub, in the form of The New Inn (great for a Sunday roast!). If you take a quick stroll up the opposite side of the road you’ll find a wonderful, large garden centre with the friendliest staff. There’s also a greengrocer supplying fresh fruit and veg as well as a large variety whole foods, jarred goods and essentials. Just across the way is the Bay Tree restaurant – serving generously portioned homemade food for dine-in or takeaway.

If you fancy a ramble, there are plenty of trails just waiting to be explored! You can easily pick up the Saints Trail from Goonhavern that takes you to Perranporth on foot via the old, dismantled railway. Follow the trail there and back again or take the almost circular route past the Black Flag Brewery, a great spot to stop for woodfired pizza and a pint of local ale.

The vibrant seaside town of Perranporth is just three miles away, where golden sands and rolling surf await, along with the famous Watering Hole beach bar, right on the sand – head there at sunset for a real treat!
